Today's the day. Today I'm sure;
You're younger than you'll ever be,
Older than you've been before.
Less time to have, more time you've had
Have you lost or gained? Is it happy or sad?
You can celebrate or mourn, but don't waste too much time,
Because it'll all be over in just the blink of an eye.
What is right? You think you know.
But do you, really? Or is it all for show?
Passed on from ancestors' ancestry,
Somewhere down your family tree,
Someone, somewhere, for reason unknown
Said, "Let's do this!" and the seed was sewn.
Hats indoors were decided rude,
Cursing, "Damn," was deemed to be crude,
But why? By who? For what reason?
Ask these aloud and it's almost treason.
Don't bother asking, that won't work.
Instead, just ignore the world's crazy quirks.

Shvrumm! Another Rainy Day
Shvrumm! epilogues the flashes in the sky, chasing down the rain.
Puddles form and flood and flow, a river scaled down for a child to play God.
The smell of liquid life filled the air,
the falling wetness that splashes on impact,
matching the mood of the darkening, gray sky.

War is through, for what it’s worth,
Nothing left to fight about.
Peace coats the face of the Earth
With craters, ruins, bodies, and fall-out.
We fought until the last man stood,
and fought some more for good measure.
People doing what they thought good,
but the good that they fought for was treasure.
The first white flashes, dropped from the sky,
Made us cower in our shelters,
Watching as the time ticked by,
Waiting as the moments passed.
Some cried, some prayed,
Some left,
